Fractures are mostly caused by direct violence, and fifth metatarsal fracture often alone occurs (peroneus brevis muscle strength due to traction). It often has an oblique fracture line, and there is overlapping shifts. Thus the loss of the normal curve metatarsal head wires, causing transverse arch collapse, metatarsal head pain. After the metatarsal neck fracture, if not corrected, each unit has pain.
1. 2-4 metatarsal fracture: downward, after the shift, the emergency manual reduction, plaster immobilization. If it fails, internal fixation can be applied.
2. metatarsal shaft fracture:
(1) single: 3-4 weeks to rest.
(2) If there is no shift or minimally displaced, plaster fixation is not necessarily. Thick dressing can be applied. It takes 3-4 weeks to walk.
(3) If there is displaced, open reduction and intramedullary nail fixation. It takes 4-6 weeks to walk.
3. metatarsal neck fracture:
(1) manual reduction and cast immobilization after pipe, molded arch in the foot, It takes 4 weeks to walk.
(2) If manual reduction is failed, open reduction and intramedullary nail fixation can be applied.
4. The fifth metatarsal fracture: tape fixed to valgus position or fixed by walking cast immobilization for 6 weeks.
1. Avoid strenuous activity of limb, the elevating limb position when bed rest, to promote venous return, limb swelling and relieve pain.
2. Oral blood circulation drug treatment.
3. High-protein and high-fiber diet, to promote healing.
4. Periodic X-ray Review.
